Kids Arts Day – Ode to Spring

Celebrating Creativity, Community, and Childhood

On June 14, 2026, the Washington Arts and Design Association (WAADA) proudly hosted Kids Arts Day – Ode to Spring in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

The event welcomed 24 children, ages 18 months to 5 years, along with 23 parents and 4 dedicated volunteers. Inspired by the beauty of spring, children explored a variety of hands-on art experiences, including Rainbow Rice sensory play, Giant Flower creations, Free Painting, Colored Water exploration, Spray Bottle Painting, and Creative Craft Stations. Through play, imagination, and artistic expression, each child was encouraged to create freely and discover the joy of making art.

The greatest treasures of the day were not simply the artworks the children created, but the moments they shared. Parents watched with pride as their children explored and expressed themselves with confidence, curiosity, and joy. Together, families experienced the unique power of art to inspire creativity and bring people together.

Although the program was scheduled to end at 12:30 p.m., the excitement continued well beyond closing time. Children eagerly shared their creations, families lingered to enjoy the warm atmosphere, and it was nearly 1:00 p.m. before everyone reluctantly said goodbye.

At WAADA, we believe that art is more than a creative activity—it nurtures imagination, builds confidence, strengthens families, and enriches communities. We look forward to offering more community art programs that inspire creativity and provide every child with opportunities to grow through artistic expression.
